Fernando Ribeiro Martins

Fernando Martins is an engineer and researcher with a solid and diversified career in the energy sector and academia. He is currently completing his PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Coimbra, in the area of energy efficiency, where he focuses his research with the Intelligent Energy Systems group of ISR-UC. He is a Full Member of the Portuguese Order of Engineers, College of Electrotechnics.
Since April 2023, he has been working as Head of the Control and Prevention Unit at the National Entity for the Energy Sector, E.P.E. (ENSE), being responsible for the monitoring, prevention and investigation of accidents in the energy sector in Portugal. Additionally, he has held management positions at the General Directorate of Energy and Geology (DGEG), in the area of Energy Sustainability, and within the scope of the National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency (PNAEE) and the Energy Efficiency Fund (FEE), as Executive Director.
His extensive experience also includes the coordination of several public initiatives related to energy at national and European level, demonstrating a deep commitment to advancing energy efficiency and governance in the energy sector.
