The course aims to fulfill the obligations of the legal framework for the promotion and prevention of occupational safety and health (Law No. 102/2009, of September 10, 2009), in accordance with the provisions of Article 284 of the Labor Code, with regard to prevention.

The course is also intended to meet the requirements of the Private Security Department of the PSP (Portuguese Public Security Police), which mandates adequate qualifications in occupational safety and health for those who wish to teach the training unit “BAS06 – Occupational Safety and Hygiene applied to Private Security”.
The course also enables the qualification of all private security professionals who, within their company or while providing services to a client, are directly or indirectly involved in training or prevention activities related to occupational safety and health.

For the convenience and safety of the students, classes will be taught in person but remotely.

The aim is that, by the end of the course, students will acquire knowledge and skills in the area of ​​occupational safety and health (OSH) that will allow them to perform basic training and prevention functions in that field, namely:

• To understand the legal framework of occupational safety and health and the responsibilities arising from it;
• Understanding the basic concepts of occupational safety and health;
• Recognizing the importance of occupational safety and health;
• Identify the main occupational and specific risks;
• Implement preventive measures for occupational and specific risks.

This course is intended for employers and workers who perform occupational health and safety functions, as established in Article 6 of the annex to Decree-Law No. 109/2000 of June 30, and whose sector of activity is not considered high-risk.
