The Postgraduate Program in Museology aims to provide theoretical and practical knowledge and skills related to museums and cultural institutions, integrating and supporting the most innovative practices in museum research and programming. The program combines theoretical understanding with practical experience, preparing graduates for roles in curation, conservation, research, collection and archive management, audience engagement, and project and resource management.
The course units will be taught in Portuguese, with an emphasis on active methodologies that encourage content engagement, discussion, reflection, and communication in collaboration with museological institutions.

  • To understand the theoretical foundations of: museology and museography; exhibition planning and design; educational and community mediation and engagement; research, documentation, and collection management; information gathering systems; and preventive conservation.
  • To prepare students for practical roles in curation, cultural mediation, conservation, research, and digital humanities.

(a) Qualifications obtained at the Autonomous University do not require authentication. In the case of qualifications obtained abroad, in addition to the authentication of the copy(ies) described above, authentication by the Portuguese Embassy or Consulate in the country of origin of the academic qualification or by the Apostille of the Hague Convention is required. If the documents are not in Portuguese, translation of the documents by a translator recognized by the Portuguese diplomatic representation will be required.

Registration will only be validated upon payment of the fee and delivery (within a maximum of 30 days) of all requested documentation.

Failure to submit the aforementioned documents invalidates the registration and prevents attendance at the course.
