The Defense Economy sector allows national companies to gain scale and consequently intensify their internationalization. Furthermore, it fosters the existence of economic activities based on high technology and a high degree of knowledge, retaining highly specialized human resources and expertise within the national economy. Thus, we are facing a sector that can actively contribute to an open and resilient Strategic Autonomy, resistant to the impacts of a potential economic slowdown in the current international context of threats.

The course will take place in person, at the Autónoma Academy facilities in Lisbon. Residents or those in Functions in other districts of the country or abroad can be attended remotely/online.

Bringing together a renowned group of experts, this course aims to:

  • Raising awareness in a productive investment sector;
  • Raising awareness among public officials in the area of ​​Security and Defense;
  • Raising awareness among organizations about hiring for Innovation and R&D.
  • Learning how to create consortia, making this practice part of the company culture, and improving its competitive positioning;
  • Encouraging the creation of start-ups in this area;
  • Training human resources to align them with new technical requirements;
  • To demonstrate that working with different areas in clusters is critical; To increase responsiveness to the demands placed on industry in environmental, energy, digital and natural resource matters.
  • The revitalization of this public policy can put the Triple Helix (the response of companies and research and development centers to the needs of the Armed Forces) into practice, making the best use of existing resources and opportunities.
  • Students from various cycles of Higher Education, namely in the areas of International Relations, Political Science, History, Sociology, Geography, Economics and Communication
  • Members of the Armed Forces and Security Forces and Services
  • Public Administration staff, namely from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Internal Administration and the Ministry of Economy
  • Senior executives and technicians from Municipal Councils and Companies focused on internationalization
